Fremantle Arts Centre Bazaar 2018

As the weather warms and the afternoon sun lingers a little longer in our Port City, there’s one event that remains at the top of our to-do-list every year – Fremantle Arts Centre Bazaar.

As one of WA’s longest running makers markets (a staggering 39 years) Bazaar has become one event that is synonymous with summer in Fremantle and earmarked in Perth diaries every year as an absolute must-visit.

Set in the idyllic surrounds of Fremantle Arts Centre’s Front Garden with glowing festoon lights overhead, live music filling the air and curated wares from WA’s very best designers and makers available to purchase, there’s something truly unique about the Bazaar.

A highlight on Fremantle Arts Centre’s calendar, FAC’s Director Jim Cathcart says the three-days of retail heaven is so much more than just a market, it’s an experience.

“Whether you’re stopping by to enjoy some live music and a bite to eat, you’re perusing the stalls for the perfect Christmas gift, or you want to settle in for a balmy summer afternoon in the Front Garden, there’s something for everyone at Bazaar.”

This year, the Bazaar will be held to coincide with the first weekend of summer (Friday November 30 – Sunday 2 December) marking the perfect excuse to spend your weekend exploring the stalls of WA’s original makers market, uncovering treasures from 50 of the states most skilled craftspeople and picking up some truly thoughtful and inspired Christmas gifts along the way.

Our tips for making the most out of your day at Bazaar?

1. Begin your day early and pick up a coffee from the lovely and leafy Canvas café at the Arts Centre – there’s nothing quite like a ‘pick me up’ to get you in the mood for shopping.

2. Start at the very beginning, all the stalls are worth a visit so make sure they’re all on your list – whether it’s a set of deliciously soft bed linen, hand-poured candles or an original artwork, there’s certain to be a treasure for everyone to take home.

3. Perch yourself in the gardens with your purchases, pick up a bite to eat from the delicious selection of food trucks and settle in for a glorious Fremantle afternoon.

4. Once you’re well and truly shopped and fed, we recommend you make a quick stop via the latest exhibition to grace the walls and immerse yourself in a little art to round out your weekend.

Bazaar 2018 will be held from Friday 30 November to Sunday 2 December. Opening on Friday from 5- 9pm and continuing all day Saturday and Sunday, 9am – 5pm, entry to the Bazaar is $2 for adults and children under 12 are free.
