Fremantle Biennale
The Fremantle Biennale is a biennial festival of site-responsive contemporary art. The largely free program provides a platform for artist-led art and ideas. It is recognised for commissioning and presenting innovative and thought-provoking contemporary culture from Australia and the world.
Detail was engaged to support the Fremantle Biennale across its 2021, 2023 and 2025 seasons, delivering marketing, public relations and digital services to promote the festival. A key objective of the communications strategy was to expand the festival’s audience by building awareness beyond repeat visitation and the traditional ‘arts community’. Detail drew on its extensive network across arts, culture and lifestyle environments, as well as mainstream media voices, to introduce the festival to new audiences and spotlight the breadth of world‑leading experiential art presented in Fremantle. Engaging social content, targeted influencer partnerships, digital advertising and email marketing amplified the festival experience and reinforced key messages.
The Fremantle Biennale has become a standout moment in Australia’s contemporary arts calendar, supported by Detail’s holistic approach to marketing, public relations and digital strategy. In its 2025 season, Detail strengthened the festival’s visibility and broadened engagement across new and returning audiences. The campaign secured significant coverage across local and national news, arts, and lifestyle publications, generated strong engagement across digital channels, and attracted positive attention from influential cultural voices.
