Featuring works by renowned local and international artists from the 1800’s to today, the Art Gallery of Western Australia (AGWA) is one of our state’s most enriching cultural locales.

Encouraging and welcoming diverse audiences into the Gallery, AGWA works with artists, artistic communities and audiences to create bold and adventurous exhibitions, experiences and programs.

Detail has worked with AGWA to promote a range of its latest ambitious projects, exhibitions and activations, including the recent opening of the AGWA Design Store, Janice Wong’s 18-meter chocolate tunnel, and the graffiti + street dance event Heavens Spot.

The AGWA Design Store | Breathing new life into its retail offering, the AGWA Design Store fuses eclectic art with contemporary fashion and homewares, through exclusive products and design collaborations from local and globally renowned brands. Detail managed the publicity around the store opening as well as engaging a range of influencers and tastemakers across Perth to support the success of the launch event. Coverage highlights included an exclusive fashion and accessories takeover spread in STM and The West Australian feature with store curators Leith Groves and Rob Marshall.

Pure Imagination with Janice Wong | Premiering in a national first at AGWA, Singapore’s culinary artist and multi-award-winning dessert chef, Janice Wong used a combination of edible mediums as her artistic palette to build a large-scale chocolate tunnel, filled with rock candy corals, sweet lollipops and savoury bites which guests could pick off the colourful chocolate tempered walls.

Through Detail’s targeted publicity campaign, the news of the 18-meter chocolate tunnel spread far and wide, with approximately 4,000 people visiting the Gallery to experience the tunnel and meet the artist. Janice’s line of confectionary also sold out only hours after it hit the shelves of the AGWA Design Store. Publicity highlights include an STM feature with Janice, a piece in The Australian by food critic John Lethlean, a Channel 9 feature and extensive coverage across cultural and lifestyle publications.

Heavens Spot | Following on from AGWA’s late 2021 project 100 Vandals featuring Western Australian graffiti artists, Heavens Spot welcomed a select painter from this community of artists to leave their mark directly on the walls of AGWA’s rooftop gallery.

The art’s gritty nature acted as an inspiration to transform the AGWA Rooftop into a street-inspired celebration, inviting people to experience a day of street dance workshops, followed by an epic dance battle in the evening, which saw Perth’s best street dancers converge on the rooftop for the chance to be crowned the ultimate urban dancer.

Detail supported Heavens Spot with a publicity campaign, as well as engaging an audience of influential Gen Z, Millennial, and arts + culture focused personalities for an exclusive event. Highlights included a Channel 10 weather cross from the rooftop and a Perth Now feature with previous reigning dance champion and panel judge, Renee Russo.
