Fuelled by the unique spirit of our Port City, the Republic of Fremantle is an urban distillery and integrated hospitality venue located in Fremantle’s historic West End. Using a state-of-the-art still, the distillery is one of the few in the world crafting its premium spirits from scratch.
The Republic’s flagship range of spirits is made from wine pressed and fermented in Western Australia. The result is a Full Bodied Gin, Aromatic Gin and Signature Vodka that celebrate the unique flavour profiles and tasting notes derived from the local grape.
In addition to producing world-class gins and vodka, the purpose-built venue features a Bar + Kitchen designed by leading Fremantle-based architects spaceagency, where guests can come together and share the spirit. Meanwhile, ‘Gin School’ sessions offer gin aficionados the opportunity to blend their own botanicals in mini pot stills and take home a bottle of their uniquely crafted spirit.
Detail has worked broadly with the Republic of Fremantle throughout the product and venue launch. Our work has included strategy development, press, digital marketing, content creation and social media management. Detail also developed amplification tactics including the guerrilla marketing activation to launch the Citizens campaign and influencer engagement events.
The highly successful venue launch provided the perfect platform for the trade release of the product range in early 2021, with the range now stocked in leading bottle shops nationally, including Dan Murphy’s. Limited edition barrel aged Negroni and shared serve cocktails have followed.
The Republic of Fremantle’s flagship range has been recognised by the American Distilling Institute, with the Republic of Fremantle Full Bodied Gin receiving Best International Contemporary Gin, and a Double Gold Medal at the 2021 awards. The Republic of Fremantle Signature Vodka was also awarded a Double Gold Medal and the Aromatic Gin received a Bronze Medal.
The Republic of Fremantle was named runner up for ‘WA’s Bar of the Year’ at the 2021 WA Good Food Guide Awards. The Distillery’s Head Chef Emily Jones was also awarded ‘Young Chef of the Year’.
Almost three years in the making, Republic of Fremantle officially opened the doors to the final stage of their Fremantle venue in December 2022. As part of this evolution of the brand, Detail managed the publicity around the launch period.
The finishing piece of the award-winning distillery, bar & kitchen, the 300-person venue now offers everything from pre-dinner drinks and bar snacks, through to Bistrot-style dining, curated distillery experiences, and of course – a refillable station for their signature range of spirits.
The culmination of the venue means diners can enjoy an elevated dining experience, further extending Republic’s ‘from scratch’ philosophy with a brand-new kitchen and restaurant menu.
